Client Engagement in Action

A Principled FrameworkGlobal
Centering and Embedding DE&I
In an increasingly diverse and multicultural world, companies that fail to fully embrace inclusion risk alienating key stakeholders and losing a strategic business advantage. In 2021, we launched several new initiatives to help our clients keep DE&I grounded in everything they do to help meet the changing needs of modern consumers.
Omnicom’s Inclusion from the Start framework embeds DE&I principles early on into client engagement at every Omnicom agency worldwide, aiming to elevate the right voices, provoke new thinking and challenge the status quo.
We established a client DE&I Communications Program to regularly update clients on our DE&I initiatives and accomplishments. This included creating a library of OPEN 2.0 resources and reports for clients detailing our progress against our DE&I goals. We also standardized how we share diversity data with clients for new business opportunities.
We announced our DE&I Guiding Principles, our declaration of how we apply DE&I every day.
We also identified global, specialized DE&I client counselors to advise clients on DE&I strategy across all five major agency networks – Omnicom Media Group, DDB Worldwide, DAS Group of Agencies, TBWA and BBDO. This DE&I Council offers timely perspective and relevant approaches to apply DE&I to current client work.

OMG
OMGAt our first OPEN DEI Client Summit, we highlighted our clients’ DE&I work and lessons learned. This two-day series of virtual panel discussions, in partnership with agency sparks & honey, created candid conversations about the challenges and triumphs of navigating DE&I in a fast-changing environment. In 2021, our discussions focused on two themes: DEI’s Collision with Racial and Social Justice and The Future of DE&I Consultancy. In Omnicom’s commitment to accelerating the timeline for inclusion in creative services, leaders from our DE&I consultancies came together to share their challenges, successes and insights from this constantly evolving practice area and our ever-changing industry.

An Accessible Dining Experience
DDB Mudra Group
To help more people experience the joy of biting into a delicious burger, DDB Mudra Group collaborated with McDonald’s to launch innovative packaging to accommodate guests with disabilities. Unveiled on the International Day of Persons with Disabilities in 2021, the new packaging made it possible for those with upper-limb disabilities to pick up and enjoy McDonald’s burgers and sandwiches with one hand. McDonald’s is the first fast-food company in India to release this new type of packaging, a major step toward public inclusivity for all.

Induction for “The Iceman”
Alma DDB
Alma DDB worked with Coors Light and the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders to champion the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction of football legend Tom “The Iceman” Flores, a LatinX ex-Raider who coached for 12 seasons following his retirement as a player in 1966. Despite being one of the most accomplished coaches in NFL history, Flores was excluded from the Hall of Fame for two decades. Launched in January 2021, the campaign incentivized fans all over the country to sign a petition advocating for his cause, generating over a billion impressions and significant increases in consideration and brand perception for Coors Light. Most importantly, The Iceman was finally inducted into the Hall of Fame in August 2021, vindicating a generation of LatinX NFL fans.

Women’s Sports Changemakers
GMR Marketing
GMR Marketing connected Google with the WNBA and ESPN in a game-changing partnership to deliver Google innovations to the WNBA fan experience. In 2021, the WNBA announced Google as one of its Changemakers, an initiative to drive positive change for the WNBA, women’s sports and women in society. Google will help the league develop marketing initiatives, community-driven programming and product experiences. In this collaboration, Google will also work with ESPN to expand the audience for women’s basketball and showcase the league’s incredible talent across multiple platforms. This collaborative effort will continue to catalyze social change by delivering on shared commitments to gender, racial and LGBTQIA+ equity.
